I want to touch up on one other thing that you’ve mentioned in a segment, when you talk about how you think cases should be done on a local level. I also agree that worrying about a player that’s several states over, unless they did a big crime, is a silly thing. But I don’t even think there’s a guarantee that the local to wouldn’t sell you out unfortunately

Should have brought up when Chevy went to, I forget where in south America, and the NA TOs saw that he was in a tournament, so they called the TOs down there to complain "hey, this person is banned", and the TOs down there didn't give a crap. I think a lot of what that guy says is dumb as hell, but to ban over what stays on his own twitter page and is not direct attacks against people is dumb. If nothing happens directly against another person, and it's not in tournament or tournament adjacent, it should not be up for any sort of ban.

I support your combo videos and I heavily support this person being banned, she should not be allowed to take part in this community -- frankly almost any online community -- if the things stated in that document are true, which at least the doxxing clearly seems to be. She's done some wildly messed up things, absolutely ban her 11:07 Luigigoshard, yeah --- 15:13 I kinda disagree with this part. Mekk had at that point been randomly sending hate-tweets to a number of players and TOs under "IronSpartan710", being heavily deceitful with his unyieldingly positive other online presence. If you're a player in a scene where you'd be meeting him in bracket, you'd obviously feel discomforted by a player seeming nice to you on the surface and then raging against your life choices behind your back. Generally, I do believe in reform so I probably wouldn't have lifetime-banned him, but at that point he'd been using the alt for three months; if you've been actively using an account basically *just* to shit on trans people for that long, you've already spread quite a lot of unnecessary hate. --- Overall I appreciate your video being a lot more nuanced than other ban discourse videos, and this is definitely an issue that needs to be raised and dealt with -- jesus that stuff's REAL bad. Still: the corrupt groups you're describing are a direct result of people forming their own communities in real life, like you're suggesting. While I certainly disagree with some bans, others are within reason due to the pretty small size of regional communities: if there's to be a feeling of camaraderie, you have to accept certain things about the people in those communities. Could there afford to be more nuance about those decisions? Certainly! But I think most community members are mature enough to know the implications of the things they say. (I'm mostly talking about the presence of trans people; although I know it's a flame-stoking topic in modern politics, in niche internet communities you *will* meet trans people and they're likely to be fairly prominent.)

I used to be so proud of being a smash player, I would defend people in the scene and get in heated debates with FGC people who would claim it's not a real fighting game and just a "party game". Scene was so tightly knit for the people, by the people. So many memories of people letting you crash at their pad after a tourney etc and just a general sense that we were all just friends having fun, with nothing serious. I came back years later to find all of a sudden my beliefs unrelated to the game now regard me as a public enemy. So many old school players agree with me that the scene is corrupt, but almost all are afraid to say anything or have just grown past beyond the game to even care anymore. Thanks for this video brother
